A good summer starts outside

A dry June weekend changes everything. When the sun actually shows up in Warwickshire, you want somewhere proper to use it. That is what we do here at Nuneaton Patios. We lay outdoor spaces that hold up all year and look right when the weather finally plays ball.

We work across Nuneaton and the surrounding area. A lot of the housing stock around here is red brick terrace or older sandstone cottage builds, and we know how to match materials to what is already there. Getting that right matters. It really does.

What we work with

• Porcelain tiles, large format and standard
• Indian sandstone, including kandla grey sandstone calibrated 22mm which we use regularly for its consistency underfoot
• Concrete flagstones for solid budget-conscious jobs
• Artificial grass and natural turf
• Timber and close-board fencing
• Block and brick walling

How a typical installation week runs

Most patio jobs follow the same sequence, and we stick to it because cutting corners in the early stages always shows up later.

• 1. Excavation, we dig out to the right depth for your ground conditions
• 2. Sub-base, compacted hardcore laid and checked for level
• 3. Bedding, sharp sand or concrete bed depending on the material
• 4. Laying, slabs or tiles set and adjusted by hand
• 5. Jointing, pointed or brushed depending on the finish
• 6. Cleaning, the finished surface left clear and ready to use

Practical from the start

We do not rush the sub-base stage. That is the bit nobody photographs (which is a shame, honestly). However, if the base is wrong, the whole job moves within two winters. Drainage matters just as much as the surface. We plan for water before we lay a single slab.
