Irish winters are relentless. We know that better than most. Based just off the Clondalkin Road, not far from the Mucky Duck crossroads, we have been keeping Dublin homes watertight for years. When gutters fail, walls soak. It moves fast.
A lot of older Dublin semis have cast iron gutters. Good ones. We restore those where we can, because ripping out decent ironwork is wasteful. However, when the rust has gone too deep, we switch to aluminium seamless. It handles the weight of Irish rainfall without the maintenance headache. We also do fascia capping in aluminium, and colour matching matters more than people think (getting it wrong against the render or brickwork looks brutal, and we have made that mistake once, years ago, never again).
Rotting timber fascia is behind half the gutter problems we get called out to. We replace with uPVC boards or aluminium capping. Clean finish. Properly ventilated. No shortcuts on the fixings.
Brackets matter. Re-spacing for correct fall is something we do on nearly every job. Water sitting in a gutter goes nowhere useful.
Clondalkin and surrounding Dublin postcodes. D22, D24, Lucan, Palmerstown, Rathcoole. We travel, but we are local.
Tight sentences now. We turn up. We measure first. We quote straight. No surprises on the bill.
